5 Stars Wonderful
I love this DVD. Amira does an excellent job breaking down moves, setting an inviting atmosphere, and passing along some very important information. The performances are beautiful and inspirational. The interviews are great.

5 Stars Wonderful prenatal exercise program
I viewed this video from the perspective of a Certified Nurse Midwife and teacher of Prenatal Belly Dance, and I must say that I realy like this DVD! It is very well done - excellent production, nice relaxing and reassuring words and body language!

In this video, Amira’s obvious comfort with her body, her lovely pregnancy glow and her gently encouraging words offer a role model for women looking for an alternative to feeling fat and clumsy during pregnany. Our world needs more images of beautiful mother goddesses celebrating their abundance!

The yoga stretches and strengthening sections are a really nice addition. I do believe that yoga and belly dance are wonderfully complimentary to each other.

It is a really nice, safe, and do-able program, with very good instruction and a nice pace in which a woman can take her time and follow along.

The DVD is also packed with extras. I loved the 2 beautiful performances by Amira, and the out-takes were fun! While the interviews might be somewhat helpful to the pregnant women using the video, I felt they did not add much to the overall quality of the information offered.

Thanks to Amira for producing this DVD - it is an excellent addition to the world of prenatal exercise videos, and I will happily recommend it to pregnant women!

5 Stars I Only Wish I’d Bought This SOONER!!!
I was able to work out at the gym daily through my sixth month of pregnancy, but when it became too much (and my gym pass expired) I struggled to find an enjoyable way to keep moving. If only I had bought this DVD a lot sooner!

Amira gives concise and understandable instructions for exercises that almost any pregnant woman can do (I can do them, and I’m at 37 weeks!). The movements are gentle, fun, and relaxing, but best of all, I feel they are useful in preparing me for my upcoming childbirth. And my little one seems to enjoy them, too!

Amira says many positive and affirming things along the way. She encourages you to respect the limitations of your body and not overdo anything. She looks like a pregnant goddess and glows with respect for her body.

I wasn’t too impressed with the extra footage - the interviews and such - but really, the workout alone was worth the purchase. It’s a great buy and I would recommend it to anyone!

5 Stars THE BEST FOR ALL WOMEN
I bought this DVD for my pregnant friend and we watched it together. I wish this sort of information was around when I was pregnant. I never knew that belly dance historically is a “birth dance”. It makes all makes sense now. This DVD will help you to get ready for birth not only physically but also mentally. None of the other pregnancy DVDs go in so much depth like this this one does. AND ITS OVER 3 HOURS LONG. I also loved the interviews with belly dance mothers very much. There is so much information on this DVD, it’ll take you days to watch it all through. I think every woman, pregnant or not, should know this information, it’ll make you appreciate yourself more, the woman you are. Great job Amira, this DVD was well needed.

4 Stars Celebrate your pregnant self :)
I have really been enjoying this DVD! It took me a while to find a belly dancing workout especially for pregnancy; in the meantime I tried out a few beginning belly dance DVDs that were not specifically for pregnancy and found most of them hard to follow. Amira does a very good job of breaking down the moves. The movements in themselves are simple, yet even after following the video twice I felt a huge difference in my hips and muscle tone. That being said, I didn’t think that the warm up segment was that great; I didn’t feel especially warmed up after doing it, so what I do now is warm up with some of my other DVDs and then skip straight to the strengthening and belly dance sections. The labor exercise segment is also very helpful. However, I was not too impressed with the interviews. There is good information there, but if you already have any experience with (natural)birthing you will probably not hear anything that you didn’t already know.

As a side note, I was at a sandwich shop with my 2 year old daughter the other night and she got up and started doing hip circles to the pop music that was playing there :D

5 Stars beautiful and sensual
this dvd is beautiful,I already love veena and neena, its lovely that neena made this video,it makes me feel so soothed and calmed.a brilliant companion for us pregnant mums, made me feel very calm and sensual.

theres an interview at the end too with a doula, its brilliant xx

5 Stars Just what I was looking for!
This workout is really lovely–a good level of activity and toning exercises, but fun and sensual. I first tried the prenatal bellydance video with Naia and was really wishing that there was a Neena/Veena video instead. The Naia video was harder to follow, with not enough instruction and more complicated floor moves. I have been doing Neena/Veena videos for years and love them. I was so happy to find this video and I exercise to it frequently, in addition to yoga and cardio such as walking and elliptical.

Prenatal Bellydance

Prenatal Bellydance

Originating in ancient dances and rituals related to family, life cycle and childbirth, bellydance is based on movements that come naturally to the female body. Some bellydance movements mimic natural intuitive motions associated with pregnancy and childbirth, others have been traditionally used to move the baby into the best position or relieve the discomfort of labor.

This unique dance/workout program has been designed to be safe and effective for pregnancy and follows the guidelines of the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists.

Organic, flowing, energizing movement of bellydance helps to improve abdominal control and awareness, relieve aches and discomfort associated with pregnancy, avoid swelling and cramping and prevent excessive weight gain. Bellydance hip movements will tone the muscles of your pelvic floor, whose strength is all-important for the birth, as well as for your postnatal recovery.

And, beyond all these benefits, it offers a fantastic motivation to stay beautiful and graceful throughout the pregnancy - in touch with your inner goddess!

The program consists of 6 SECTIONS: WATER: Warmup and stretches; slow, meditative section; opens by building dance Combination 1 EARTH: Movements focused on the abdomen and lower body; medium-paced rhythmic section; the section culminates in building dance Combination 2 AIR: Upper body movements; medium-paced rhythmic section, introducing Combination 3 FIRE: Travel steps; medium-to-fast-paced dance section; in this section we build and practice Combination 4 DANCE: Slow-to-medium-paced section: we put together Combinations 1, 2, 3 & 4 into a graceful flowing dance; LIGHT: Cooldown, slow, meditative section

Remember, each body type and each pregnancy is diffferent. You may want to ask your doctor or midwife to view this DVD first, if she or he is not familiar with this form of dance/exercise.

5 Stars Love it!
If you are looking for a quick, easy, but interesting workout this one is for you. I love doing this dvd! The movements are completely natural all while working muscle groups that are really hard to work during pregnancy (all those ab areas). My heart rate gets up without going crazy and my body feels release from a lot of pressure. The traveling steps take a bit of getting use to, but within a few weeks of doing the dvd you’ll keep up just fine. This was my first time doing bellydancing, and I will definately be sticking with it after the baby comes. It is my favorite pregnancy workout.

4 Stars Not your typical pregnancy workout
This is a nice addition to my pregnancy workout collection. I have some previous experience with bellydance workouts (Neena & Veena) and I agree with some of the others that the segment on hip movements goes by rather fast and is not broken down well. Other than that it is well done, and it doesn’t require any special equipment or costuming other than comfortable clothing to do the exercises. I do wish they would expound on the benefits of bellydance for pregnant women in preparation for birth and labor (loosening of the hips and pelvis, etc), but maybe that’s a whole other DVD.

4 Stars Prenatal Belly Dancing Is Fun
This video is a bit interesting to keep up with if you’ve never belly danced before, but it is so much fun that you won’t mind. If you are looking for an alternative type of exercise while pregnant, this is definately it. Not only did I find it fun, but also a nice even keel work out. Not too fast, not too slow, but just enough to break a sweat. Perfect for those of us who live in cooler climates but want to exercise throughout our entire pregnancies without freezing. I’ll give it a 4 out of 5 star, only because of the difficulty of some of the hand/body movements for belly dancing beginners. But I definately wouldn’t let that stop you from purchasing this. Lots of fun!

2 Stars There are better options out there.
I have been doing bellydance for exercise for several years and love it. It seemed like a natural way to exercise during pregnancy, being relatively gentle and a great way to keep up abdominal tone and also relieve hip and joint pain. The first half of the video is fine, but once it moves to the floor movements, the dancing becomes too complicated and does not have enough instruction to support it. Instead, I turned to the Neena/Veena prenatal bellydance video and LOVE it!
