4 Stars Love this before bed during 3rd trimester
This is my favorite of three prenatal yoga dvds. I started it at around 34 weeks, as a yoga novice. I appreciate that it’s “doable” — she gives modifications of all the poses based on trimester, and I can do the entire workout without hurting myself. Her voice, the outdoor scenery, and the music are quite peaceful and relaxing. Also, the narration is not hokey; there are videos of her sonogram, and she often asks you to think of your baby.

If you are expecting a hardcore workout, you will be disappointed. This video is all about stretching and relaxing — I love doing it before bed at night. I find it a good complement to cardio workouts at the gym, and I count it as relaxation practice for my Bradley childbirth classes.

The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that I don’t like the series of seated chair poses; they don’t feel good to me and seem to stretch the wrong muscles in the wrong way. I substitute a few other poses during that part. Otherwise, I really love this video.

1 Star Bad quality
I bought this dvd after reading the reviews of other pregnant women, and I was waiting something really nice. When the DVD arrived and I saw the first minutes of the workout I felt really dissapointed.

It is an amateur video, with a camera put in the middle of a park (?) and a lady trying to do some yoga. The image has a really bad quality and there is no selection of scenes.

It is really an amateur video of a couple: the husband holds the camera and his wife does the exercises.

Avoid it.

5 Stars Perfect!
This yoga video was absolutely perfect during my pregnancy. I had one other pregnancy video but the bouncing around of the aerobics was extremely uncomfortable. After all, that’s a lot of fluid and extra weight to be bouncing around! “Yoga for Pregnancy” was a smooth workout that stretched my sore muscles and helped my body feel invigorated. The instructor had a soothing, reassuring voice, which helped me relax and get in tune with my body.

I carried my baby really high which lead to extreme shortness of breath. I never felt like I could get a full breath in. This video helped me to use the capacity of my lungs and to take in deep, full breaths. It’s amazing what energy can come from deep breathing!

Pregnancy can be so hard on a body. This video was one of the only things I did that provided relief and made me feel better. I highly recommend it!

4 Stars mom2be
This yoga workout is very gentle and relaxing. If you’re looking for a good workout that makes you sweat, this is not for you! However, if you want something relaxing and easy with some labor preparation then you should check this out.

5 Stars Amazing prenatal yoga DVD!
I love this DVD! The poses are terrific-suitable for all trimesters and for REAL women. I don’t feel like I’m endangering my baby. A wonderful workout that makes you feel energized, relaxed, calm, and more centered. The music is lovely and the scenery is peaceful. I feel like she’s trying to help me, not kill me! Highly recommended.

I am not one of those pregnant moms who thinks that I need to burn it all off now or never. I wanted something that would be a gentle, but slightly challenging workout for someone like me. I found it here. I feel more prepared for labor, and more relaxed. It has helped tremendously with my sciatica. I feel more energized and like I’m not so short of breath. I found this DVD very enjoyable!

5 Stars Great Workout
This is a great yoga workout, especially for someone who regularly does yoga. It has a good pace. I found a lot of prenatal workouts to be too slow and boring. The best part is that you can choose the length of the workout.

3 Stars Lunges get boring after a while
This yoga dvd is fine a few times, but the repetition of so many lunges is boring after a few workouts. I would have liked a bit more variety. I own both her pre-natal yoga dvds and my comment would be the same for the other one as well.

5 Stars Best Prenatal Fitness Video I’ve Found So Far
I’ve been trying a lot of prenatal fitness videos lately, and I haven’t been all that impressed. My husband bought me this one for Christmas and it is head and shoulders above the other videos I’ve tried. Granted, it’s not the same as taking a class in person, but that’s not much of an option for me as a second-time mom, and I found Jennifer Wolfe’s approach to prenatal yoga to be fairly unique compared to other videos.

The modifications she’s made to create a vinyasa that will work in pregnancy feel very fluid to me (e.g., moving the thumbs together in downward-facing dog to allow room for a leg to come forward around a big belly). I tried some more strenuous yoga with my first pregnancy and found it too much for me, but this time around, with this video, I feel challenged but strong, especially in my arms and upper body. I’m also still experiencing the late 1st trimester exhaustion and was worried this would just leave me more tired; on the contrary, I left the practice feeling energized. My 3.5-year-old loved it, too. She did the 15-minute practice with me and then asked to do it again when we were done!

I love that I can choose to do a 15-, 30- or 45-minute practice. This really works well while I try to fit in exercise and keep up with a preschooler.

There were a couple of movements that tweaked some pains I have in my lower abdominal muscles/ligaments, but I just backed off and did a slightly less deep version of the stretch. I’ve never found a video that fit my body perfectly, pregnant or not, so I’ve become accustomed to modifying as my body directs me to.

5 Stars Pregnant and Happy!
I too was looking for a yoga video that would be challenging as I was previously doing Bikram yoga until I was pregnant. The video isn’t as challenging as Bikram yoga (for obvious reasons), however it gets my heart rate high enough to experience a real workout.

Another great thing with this dvd is the option for various timed workouts allowing you to fit it in to a busy schedule, however the 45min workout is the best.

4 Stars Good Vinyasa yoga workout
This yoga practice is very good if you’re looking for a more challenging yoga workout. If you practiced yoga before you got pregnant and are looking for a more difficult workout you will be more satisfied with this than many other pregnancy yoga workouts. It moves at a good pace. The 15, 30, and 45 minutes practices are all a little different which gives a nice variety so you don’t get bored doing the same thing every time. It’s also nice to be able to choose which one you want based on the time you have available.

Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga Jennifer Wolfe

Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga Jennifer Wolfe

Namaste, welcome to prenatal Vinyasa Yoga. My name is Jennifer Wolfe and I am a prenatal and vinyasa yoga instructor, a doula, a childbirth educator, a hypnotherapist, and a mother.

I have worked with hundreds of pregnant women before, during and after the birth of their babies and have seen the wonderful benefits that doing yoga while pregnant can have on your body, your birth experience, and your recovery from childbirth.

This DVD was specifically developed for women who have been practicing Vinyasa flow, Ashtanga, or Power Yoga before they were pregnant but can also be used for women who practice other forms of yoga or beginners who wish to build strength and flexibility. If you are a beginner please use the 3rd trimester modifications demonstrated by Binna. This will allow you to gain strength and flexibility safely and once you feel comfortable with the routine you can move to the 1st or 2nd trimester modifications as appropriate.

Although yoga is a safe form of exercise for pregnant women, every woman’s body is different and requires attention and awareness during any exercise to ensure the body’s well being. Please obtain permission from your doctor, midwife or health provider before doing any prenatal exercise and most important, listen to your body.

*****Also Available look for Jennifer’s Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga ~ Short Forms which includes 3 DIFFERENT PRACTICES:
*15 minutes
*30 minutes &
*45 minutes
*plus bonus labor poses

User Ratings and Reviews

2 Stars Repetitive, Quick Pace, Appropriate for Fit, Proficient Yoginis Looking for a Challenge
The back of the DVD, as well as a majority of the Amazon reviews state that this video is for people who have been practicing yoga for awhile, and are familiar with more strenuous yoga. I considered myself more in that category than I probably should have. I’ve been doing prenatal yoga in a Power Vinyasa studio for a month now, and have been practicing using Rainbeau Mar’s ZenMama and Anna Getty’s Pre and Post-Natal Work out for twice a week, for six months. I thought this would be enough, but not enough for Jennifer Wolfe’s video.

The reflux I’ve been experiencing as I’ve neared my third trimester DEFINITELY flared up during practice, and if it hadn’t been for padding my knees (something I’ve been doing through my classes and videos), I don’t know how I could have got through as far as I did (1 hr mark.) Unlike my first experiences with the studio classes, and other previously mentioned videos, I felt my first time with this video feeling hurried, out of sync, uncomfortable (reflux) and overwhelmed. Maybe it’s just being pregnant, but I expect a little pampering with my practice during this time, which is something that Anna Getty and Rainbeau Mars communicate very well through their videos, and Jennifer Wolfe does not.

If this video interests you, and you’re fit and well practiced, then know that this is not a well produced video, and it’s not simple to just skip straight to the practice at the exact point you want. Also, if you need more visual cues (or are more practiced with the asana names to clue you in), these are few and far between, and the camera angle isn’t always good at showing the appropriate alignment (and there is little verbal coaching as to what you should be feeling to clue you in and self-adjust.) There is a lot of repetition, so if you’re more practiced in Ashtanga, this might be up your alley. However, if you believe variety is the spice of life, I echo other reviewers and tell you that you won’t find it here.

5 Stars Hard Core Prenatal Yoga
Loved this video, until I became too big to continue doing it. It’s about 1.5 hours long, so make sure you have enough time, but it’s quite the prenatal workout, especially compared to the Gaiam video. Although later in my pregnancy that became what I preferred because it’s more restorative and slow placed. For those of you wanting a challenging prego-safe workout, I highly recommend this one.

5 Stars great for experienced practitioners
I’ve taken yoga for years, and was put off by the idea of taking a pre-natal yoga class where I’d be re-learning mountain pose and the like, and barely getting a workout. My yoga instructor recommended this video, and I absolutely love it (and the “short forms” video by the same instructor). It’s hard enough to make me work, and offers great variations for different stages of pregnancy. If you’re already familiar with Yoga and are looking to keep your practice going through your pregnancy, this is the DVD for you!

2 Stars Prenatal Yoga
I purchased this in my second trimester. I had no idea which prenatal yoga video to purchase so I read reviews and chose this one. I have had moderate yoga experience and love yoga in general.

This video does not bring me the same joy in doing yoga as usual. It is too long and monotonous, I cannot seem to get through it in one sitting. Not because of fatigue but because of boredom. It is unfortunate that I did not buy another video, although I’m still not sure which video would suite me best. Hard to make good decisions with no previews online.

4 Stars Good workout, but long
I enjoyed this yoga workout. It is challenging and has modifications for each trimester. The only downside is that it is a lengthy workout (over an hour), so that makes it difficult to do during the work week. But it makes a great Saturday morning workout.

5 Stars Love Her Tone
As a pre-natal instructor, I really enjoyed this video not only for it’s overall content and ease of use, but I really enjoyed Valerie’s tone. She is very real and motivating which I find refreshing.

3 Stars OK workout tape
This video is ok. It drags a bit between circuits and is not the challenge I thought it would be. If you’re used to working out and doing aerobic type of exercise, it’s not for you.
