Dr Christine Andersons Dynamic Prenatal Yoga

Dr. Christine Anderson is a Los Angeles Chiropractor who specializes in pediatrics and pregnancy. She has been teaching fitness classes for over 25 years and practiced yoga during her three pregnancies. Dr. Chris has designed this Prenatal yoga program to accommodate all levels of fitness during pregnancy by modifying typical yoga poses. Those who have been practicing yoga will appreciate the challenging modifications while beginners will receive detailed instruction. The regular practice of yoga during pregnancy prepares women for the challenges they will face during childbirth- physically, emotionally and spiritually. This DVD edition allows you to flow through the entire 90-minute practice or perform individual sessions through the chaptered program TESTAMONIALS As a Childbirth Professional, I love this DVD! As the founder of Hypnobabies, many Prenatal Yoga DVDs have been sent to me to review, and Dr. Christine’s Dynamic Prenatal Yoga is my favorite. It goes beyond the gentle stretching and relaxation of most of the ones I’ve seen before, and gives the expectant mom a real Prenatal Yoga session, helping her to easily tone and condition the muscles that she will use to give birth to her baby, along with wonderful breathing exercises to start the workout with. PreNatal Yoga PostNatal Yoga 2 Pack with Shiva Rea

PreNatal: The best thing about this prenatal yoga dvd is that there is a model for each trimester. Instructor Shiva Rea demonstrates each of the stretches and exercises for the first trimester, and two pregnant women show modifications for the second and third trimesters (they’re even dressed in different colors for easy reference). This removes the self-doubt home-exercisers often have about the safety of certain moves–especially in that cumbersome final stage of pregnancy. Using gentle voice-over instruction, Shea and her assistants take viewers through a half hour of meditational stretches using blocks and chairs for support. She follows that up with 16 minutes of floor work: lunge pose, bridge pose, child’s pose, plank pose–all with the necessary adjustments. She winds things up with a four-minute guided relaxation on her back–the traditional position–with the second-trimester woman on her side and the third on her side with one leg up on a chair. By including the different adaptations, Shea has made a tape with the flexibility to carry an expectant mom through her entire pregnancy–and beyond, if she wishes.

2 Stars Decent but long workout, disconcerting imagery
If you have 1.5 hours to get through the entire dvd it is helpful, but the background folk Christian and punk art-deco style (?) imagery (e.g., headless naked blue mannequin wrapped in outdoor lights standing behind the instructor) is out-of-place, as is the image of the instructor herself. I also found it hard to relax looking at the harsh contrasting lime green, black, and blue colors in the instructor’s studio/living room. Finally, Dr. Anderson is a chiropractor not a medical doctor so don’t let the title fool you into thinking she brings medical knowledge to this — in fact, she advises everyone use a chiropractor during pregnancy — something I’ve never heard or read anywhere else!
1 Star don’t buy it
I bought this product after reading good reviews. What a waste of money. It is the worst kind of quality you can imagine. Real home movie stuff and although the yoga moves are good, the instructor is so right on that it just puts you off. Save your money and go for a walk!
5 Stars Excellent
Excellent video. I am 8 months pregnant and have been doing this video since month 3…it has been challenging each month. It’s a great combo of stretching and strengthening. It is quite long (90 minutes) but divided into chapters, so you can choose to do all or part of the video. The cover looks very strange but the instructor is actually pretty normal… as far as yoga teachers go.
3 Stars Annoying…but good workout
I have done yoga for over 10 years, and have to say that this was the most annoying CD I have ever done. Christine was mono-tone, boring, and like another reviewer said, put in her sales pitch for chiropractic medicine which I found tasteless. The music makes you want to fall asleep. The only think that keeps you awake are the poses. She does a decent job with the yoga…but again, their is no fluidity.
2 Stars too long and to hard for me
i am sure it is a great DVD…
but for women who are expecting a baby and not really working….. 90 minutes it is a lot…
i thought it would be 90 min , but with different parts… to be able to do whatever you have time to do … choose a part… and come back without starting from the beginning… i couldn’t do the all thing…. and i feel i always have to start from the beginning again…. i don’t think it is good to skip the beginning and start from where i stopped the last time.
All the women on DVD are VERY pregnant , and all really comfortable with each exercises… it is amazing!!!
Also i am a beginner, and it is ok to follow the exercises… pretty much…but better to know about yoga …
i also bought the DVD, The Perfect Pregnancy Workout vol. 1 from Karyne Steben for workout and loved it… short , different levels… i could almost do it everyday… better for me.

5 Stars Easy to follow, effective workout
An excellent workout that I used throughout my pregnancy, up to two days before delivery. As other reviewers have explained, it is broken into several sections so you can do as much or as little as you like. Very easy follow I am aware that FitMama has been criticised for being repetitive - this was a bonus for me as my brain went AWOL during pregnancy. A safe, enjoyable workout that produced a light sweat and I didn’t have to think too much about it!
4 Stars Fast Moving
The DVD itself is great. I like that it is broken up into parts so you don’t have to do the whole thing at once. It’s very challenging and fast moving. The yoga music could be a little better. I was very disappointed on the delivery time which took over two weeks.
3 Stars A Bit Too Bubbly and Repetitive for A Tired Pregnant Mom
If you are a frequent user of (non-pregnancy) workout videos, then this may be right up your alley - Leisa Hart’s bubbly voice, the perky music, and the general workout flow seem like cookie-cutter exercise video material to me. Unfortunately for me, I found the style to be terribly grating, and not at all comfortable. Yes, I worked up a sweat doing exercises that were probably “baby-safe,” but I just couldn’t get excited about popping this in the DVD player and working out…it seemed like more of a chore than a joy. On the other hand, The Perfect Pregnancy Workout vol. 1 was my absolute favorite, and a complete contrast to “Fit Mama.” Karyne is a former Cirque Du Soleil acrobat, but I could completely follow her gentle workout, and I found her music, voice, and workout flow to be much more calming and enjoyable. It really is a matter of preference - are you looking for a peppy cheerleader to push you through your workout, or are you looking for a soothing way to build strength and tone while pregnant?
5 Stars Fun exercises
This is a good pregnancy video especially if you are not overly athletic. It is not overly challenging, but it includes the Salsa, Yoga and stretches. The instructor seems very knowledgable and is very positive and encouraging. It’s fun to do the Salsa and I look forward to it. The yoga is very repetitive, but it’s sort of nice because this way you do not have to think a lot about what you are doing. It does work out the hips and legs very well. It also includes labor preparation exercies and stretches. It is divided into 4 different sections with the exercises, so you can easily pick and choose which ones you want to do. It also includes an instructional section. I was not aware of this when I bought it, but it includes 2 dvds. The second one is for after you have the baby. I’m 7 months pregnant, I do this twice a week and combine it with The Perfect Pregnancy Workout and I feel great. Good luck with your pregnancy!
3 Stars Fun but repetitive
I’m going to have to agree with the good and bad reviews. I haven’t been working out, so the fact that it is pretty easy is a GOOD thing for me. It would be hard to workout to only this dvd for the duration of my pregnancy since it is SO repetitive. Especially the “fat burning yoga”. I really enjoy the salsa portion and I don’t find her annoying at all. The dvd also has an option with no narration for those who do find her annoying!

5 Stars Fun Workout
I have been using this video during my entire 2nd trimester and I love it. It offers two different workouts depending on my mood and energy level. I do the salsa dance workout on days when I am not as energized and need a fun workout to motivate me, and I do the yoga fat-burn when I have energy and want a little more of a challenge. I also love the labor and delivery prep and the stetching sections of the workout. They are to-the-point so I can get on with my day and still feel stretched and relaxed. I would recommend this for someone who wants a comfortable, effective workout during their pregnancy. In fact, I feel that my muscles have more tone than before I got pregnant, and I’ve never felt like I was pushing it too hard during this workout. A great buy!
5 Stars Leisa Hart’s Fit Mama: Prenatal Workout
I’m pregnant with my first child and didn’t know what kind of workouts to do. I picked this DVD and it has been great. The instructor is very knowledgeable about what exercise is good during pregnancy.
5 Stars FitMama workout fun and easy to do
I borrowed this DVD from a friend last pregnancy and liked it so much I’ve bought my own for the current pregnancy. Leisa Hart is an enjoyable exercise “coach.” She’s not hyper or ultra-chipper like some other hosts. The video is actually fun. The salsa dance is my favorite– just fun moves and you’re actually exercising. I would be remiss not to note that Leisa Hart is disgustingly thin for 9 months pregnant, but forgive her for that. There is one token “average/chubby” pregnant mom working out with her on the video, so take heart! If you aren’t bothered by a yin yang symbol on t-shirts and a few “eastern” movements, that’s about as “new age” as this video gets, (which was important to me). I highly recommend this particular exercise video.
4 Stars Good if you’re looking for easy
If you are used to working out, this video may be too easy for you. It is nice to have on days when you don’t feel much like exercising though.

5 Stars Easy for beginners
I really enjoy this workout. I didn’t workout with my daughter and didn’t lose the baby fat, so I thought this time I’d give it a try. I’ve never done Yoga or Salsa dancing and I’ve picked up on it just fine. They are actually quite fun. I have not tried the Postnatal workout yet because I’m only 5 mon pregnant, so I’ll have to get back to you on it.
5 Stars EXCELLENT !!!
I bought this for my wife so she could exercise during the pregnancy and it turned out to be and excellent daily exercising trainer…
