3 Stars Overall a good yoga DVD, but not as vigorous as I prefer
To introduce myself, I am 30 years old and weighed about 118 pre-pregnancy. I consider myself to be in good shape.

With that said–I do enjoy doing this DVD. It is very relaxing but it does have some challenging poses that encourage strength and stretch. It is a good DVD to do when I need to just relax while doing gentle movements. It’s a perfect way to start out my day or unwind in the afternoon.

On the flip side, I don’t rely on this DVD for my only activity for the day, as I prefer to actually feel more challenged. I pair this DVD with a trip to the gym or a long, brisk walk. I go to a prenatal yoga class 1-2 times a week that is more vigorous and doesn’t treat me like I am fragile. So, if you exercised regularly before you got pregnant and have done at least a few yoga classes, this one may make you yawn, although I am not advising against it (like I said, it is beneficial, just not for getting you energized). I have ordered FitMama and Pilates for Pregnancy so we’ll see how they measure up…

Hope this helps.

2 Stars Good for stretching, not to get a workout.
I’ve been to yoga classes where you get more of a workout than this one. This is more like a stretching exercise. My complaint is a lot of the stretches seemed to repeat many times. The equipment required for use to follow the exercise like the block, straps are kinda specialised items you’d have to buy. I tried to substitue with items I can find at home like a step stool, and rope.

For a real workout, I prefer the Perfect Pregnancy workout dvd with Karyne Steben.

5 Stars prenatal yoga dvd
Great yoga workout for pregnant women! Seems up-to-date with modifications for pregnant women, unlike other “prenatal” videos I’ve tried. I like the style, the selection and overall tone of the dvd.

5 Stars Nice for the Price
I enjoyed this. Very relaxing music and positions are demonstrated for each trimester. Was not expensive either.

5 Stars Prenatal Yoga
I love this workout! I am in my second trimester, I’m not showing yet, so I am able to follow the first trimester poses for the most part. This video moves at a wonderful pace, has a very nice setting with no annoying music or constant talking. It’s pure instruction and very effective! I absolutely recommend this video to anyone!

5 Stars Great pregnancy workout
This is a GREAT pregnancy workout. Not to strenuous, not to easy. I was able to complete this workout until my 7th month (I got really huge). I even used this workout to loose the baby weight after the baby was born, but it can be annoying to workout with pregnant woman on the screen when your not pregnant!

I was in reasonably good shape before I started this program. May be too strenuous if your pregnant and starting from scratch.

I’d recommend this to any pregnant woman who wants to exercise. It will help you feel a lot better through your pregnancy!

4 Stars For those who complain about it being outdated…
I did this workout when I was pregnant with my first child, when it was only available on VHS. (I now have 3 children, and my oldest is now 9 years old, so I was doing this workout 10 years ago.)

It was recently put on dvd format, and many are complaining that the music, leotards, and decor are outdated.

I wanted to comment that Kathy Smith filmed this workout when she was pregnant herself, so unless she gets pregnant again, there is really no way for her to be pregnant and lead a pregnancy workout…

So yes, the leotards and hairstyles are outdated, but I don’t think Kathy wants to get pregnant again 15 years (give or take) after she had her last one just to make an updated dvd. *smiling*

The workout, however, is effective, and safe for pregnant women-which is what it all boils down to.

5 Stars Great Workout!
This dvd is not at all boring and it is challenging (29 weeks pregnant). Kathy Smith makes it fun and easy to follow along… the music is upbeat.. and I agree that rap part is a lil bit corny, but not at all enough of a reason for me not to purchase, it definately made me sweat a bit .. Oh and let me just state that I was in excellent shape pre-pregnancy… meaning I would workout at the gym 5days a week 2 hours a day… people need to realize that you canot workout at the same entensity level as you did before, because you body is much more prone to injury.. i got the sense by all the reviews that everyone with negative reviews thought it wasnt enough of a workout.. which almost made me not purchase this dvd.. but Im very glad I decided to try it for myself :)

4 Stars Easy to customize!
It’s really easy to skip from chapter to chapter on this dvd and make the workout as long or short as you want. There are three 20 minute aerobic segments to choose from and then several target toning segments. I would like more stretching (a few yoga poses would be perfect!). It does get your heart rate going. If you can get over the cheesy early 90s color scheme/decor, its a good workout.

2 Stars Meh.
The workouts are okaaayyy (and I do appreciate the fact they’re segmented), but it is clearly for those who are new to exercising. If you’re just starting to work out, this will be a great DVD. If you’ve been exercising prior to getting pregnant, this DVD will bore you.

5 Stars Fantastic Video
I love this video. It is something that I don’t mind doing everyday. I haven’t gotten sick of it yet. I feel like it is working the muscles that need to be worked and stretches what needs to be stretched. It gets my heart rate up and sometimes I break a light sweat. The instructor is great. It is also very easy to modify the workout to your comfort level, or pregnancy stage. I’d recommend this video highly to any pregnant woman.

5 Stars Buffs Moms Workout DVD
I ordered Buffs Mom’s to Be at the end of my first trimester and it has been great! I have had a very sick pregnancy, with severe vomiting and nausea, but couldn’t stand not working out as I have always been an active person. I think that this workout is terrific to get some weight training in. A person might want to walk in addition to keep your heart rate up on the days you don’t do the dvd or even on days you do depending on your fitness level. Overall though, I think that this dvd is very, very helpful and simple to do compared to some! :0)

5 Stars Great DVD for Preggos who want to stay in shape!
I was a gym rat before I got pregnant. My obsession is lifting weights. Earlier this year I had a miscarriage (WHICH HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH MY WORKING OUT) so when we successfully got pregnant again, my hubby forbade me to go to the gym and lift. I explained that working out during pregnancy is healthy, my midwife allowed it, yada yada…but he wasn’t and still isn’t trying to hear it.

So, I ordered this DVD to show him that it is OK to be preggers and lift weights. Well, let me tell ya, this DVD gave me a great cardio & strength training workout. The plank/leg work is awesome.

Even hubby gives it the thumbs up. He calls it the “Baby Got Back” video. LOL!

3 Stars Just ok
To me, this workout is just ok. I haven’t been working out for the first four month of my pregnancy, because I had problems with bleeding, but my doctor finally gave me the ok to exercise again. I shopped around for a pregnancy workout DVD, and I ended up buying this one and “The Perfect Pregnancy Workout” based on the good reviews for both. I hate those workout DVD’s that make you follow silly dance steps and have an overly perky instructor. I was looking for something to sculpt and tone my muscles all over. Well, I tried this DVD today, and I was not blown away. It starts with a warm up section called “Jump Start Stretching” which is not too bad. Then, it moves into the “Cardio Breeze and Total Body Toning” segment. That’s where the problems started. Silly dance moves and perky comments from the instructor! Just what I hate. Also, even though I worked up a sweat, I really didn’t feel like my muscles were getting toned at all. And, I felt really silly hopping around in my front room and was hoping the neighbors weren’t looking in. The workout closes with the “Re-energizing Floor Work and Flexibility.” This section wasn’t too bad. One good thing about this DVD is the background looks very inviting and cheerful. I also liked that they had two girls showing the modifications for the second and third trimester, although the girl doing the third trimester modifications doesn’t really move a lot and seems slightly uncoordinated at times. I really have mixed feelings about this workout. I might go back to it very late in my third trimester, when I need a more modified workout. For now, I will continue to use “The Perfect Pregnancy Workout” which is great.

4 Stars My “Easy” Pregnancy Workout
I like this DVD for the first trimester, because it was easy. Sometimes though, it was too easy. I think I would do this one on my lazy days, just to say I worked out. It was low impact, and enjoyable. There is one flaw that I only noticed once I was in my third trimester– the third trimester “variations” are really just not doing the exercise being performed. The model is seen just walking in place or barely doing anything as her “variation” and personally, I could do all the moves even through the third trimester with ease.
