4 Stars Good exercises
I like the exercises on this video. The lady that leads them is a little weird, though. Sometimes it sounds like she isn’t sure what she’s talking about. I would have liked to have seen ahead of time that I would need certain equipment in order to participate in all the workouts, like a strength band, a medicine ball, what size weights, etc. Over all, though, it’s a really good work out.

5 Stars Rated as a Top prental DVD for a reason
I really enjoyed this DVD. Out of all of the prenatal DVDs I have used, this one demonstrated the most thorough understanding of the physiological needs and demands of a woman in all phases of pregnancy. The exercises are challenging enough, yet I really felt safe. My highest recommendation.

5 Stars Great overall pregnancy workout!
I ordered these DVDs near the end of my 1st trimester. I am a long time gym junkie, but I wanted a workout that would keep me in shape throughout my pregnancy without being too strenuous. So many of the DVDs I saw were yoga only, and I knew I wanted some aerobics and weight lifting, too. These DVDs give you all of it! Plus, there is great variety of workouts to keep you motivated. 2 aerobic/weight lifting workouts & 1 yoga workout per DVD. Also, you get a DVD for after baby. Lindsay is not always in perfect form and the set/recording is not the best I’ve seen, BUT she works every part of your body so that you know you’re getting a great workout. If you like interval training (aerobics w/weight training) or are looking for more than just yoga - this is the workout for you!

5 Stars Great DVDS
I purchased this set when I was 6 weeks along in my second pregnancy. I used them every morning thoughout my pregnancy. I liked that I wasn’t doing the same routine every day for 9 months. The change each Trimester was nice and kept me motivated. The only thing I would have liked to have been different is that it would have been nice to have had a mother-to-be in each workout following along with Lindsay.

5 Stars Great variety
I loved this set of workout DVDs. There is a lot of variety, and the exercises are appropriate for all stages of your pregnancy and for the post partum stages of getting back into shape. The workouts are to the point, and you accomplish a lot in a minimal amount of time. The variety helps prevent boredom. Highly recommend to any busy mom or mom-to-be.

1 Star Wouldn’t recommend
I exercise on a daily basis and had been working out using the FIRM DVDs for quite some time. I purchased the set once I found out I was expecting. I really did not enjoy the format. The instructor annoyed me. I haven’t used the DVD set because of the format and instructor.

4 Stars Good workout for women who work
I order this series of 4 videos at the very beginning of my second trimeseter and did the first trimester video for a week or two and liked it very much. It gets you moving but not so much that you are winded or exhausted after ward. I have moved onto the second trimester video and I like that as well. When I come home from work, I’m tired and the thought of excercising is the last thing on my mind, but when I remind myself that the video is only 25 minutes it gives me the extra motivation to pop it in and work out. I wind up doing the full 25 minutes of yoga afterward too and I feel more energized after doing both. It gives me a second wind. The only thing I dont like about the video is she tends to move a bit quickly for me, but I wasnt in terrific shape when I started the series. Thats the other thing I like, that I jumped into doing the videos after a VERY lazy first trimester and it wasnt difficult at all. I like Lindsay, she is cute but not overly so and she is dressed like I am at home - in comfortable workout gear - not cropped sportsbra and shorts which would just remind me that I am not going to have a flat tummy for some time! The images of the pregnant women doing the workout are a bit tiny for me and I’d like to see her doing the workout side by

4 Stars Great!
This video is great. It encompasses exercises specifically for pregnant women, but also exercises to keep your body toned that are appropriate during pregnancy.

5 Stars Highly recommended
I really enjoy this DVD. I’ve been doing Pilates for quite a few years now, and this DVD is refreshing. I’ve been waking up sore lately and these

exercises have been making me feel better. The stretching and exercises are so relaxing, yet you still feel like you’re working out. My legs are actually firm and fit. This DVD really helps me relax myself and my muscles. I look forward to doing this every time.

4 Stars Great Beginner Workout
I am really glad that I ordered this dvd. I have never done any pilates before this. I was very pleased with the way she was really clear in her instructions. It’s easy to understand and follow. I wasn’t very active before my pregnancy, due to a surgery, but I can keep up with it and I truly do have more energy afterwards. I recommend this product, especially to anyone who has never done pilates before…you’ll enjoy it.

4 Stars Great moves to Combat Pregnancy Pains
I bought two pregancy videos—this one and The Perfect Pregnancy Workout. Perfect Pregancy is my main stay because I feel like it really works me out. This one is much more low key and easier to do, and I do this video about once or twice a week. I like it because I feel like it has good moves to help my back and hips to not hurt. Negatives are that it’s not difficult enough for it to be my everyday workout. It has modifications for your third trimester. I’ve never done Pilates before, but I found it pretty easy to pick up. You need a small ball, a dowel (which I took apart my broom and used the stick portion), and 2-3 pound weights. Good video but better as a secondary workout.

2 Stars Let’s just say I won’t be doing it again.
This DVD is not awful, but I certainly won’t be doing it again. I agree with the other reviewers that it was boring, and not a great workout. I hardly even feel stretched out, much less worked out. The arm sequence was probably my favorite, but even that was both boring and too short.

Finally, she asks those of us in our third trimester to watch “Cassie and I” (not the real name). No - it’s Cassie and ME. The bad grammar was actually really distracting. Maybe it’s just because I’m hormonal, but it drove me nuts.

2 Stars Hoped for better
I really don’t want to give a bad review, but unfortunately have to.

I am now 20 weeks into my pregnancy, and still work out regularly (jogging, swimming, pilates, yoga, dance…all of which I did previously). I bought this DVD in conjunction with The Perfect Pregnancy Workout 1. Considering the fitness experience of the instructor (former acrobat for Cirque) I hoped that it would be a challenging workout that adhered to the safety needs of a pregnant woman. I was disappointed.

While safety is definitely addressed (in the intro), the workout is lacking. Instruction during the workout is poor and the yoga moves lack flow and organization. Beginners would have trouble following the workout, while advanced exercises will fail to find this much of a workout.

Unfortunately, I would not recommend this dvd. If you are wanting to try out one of the Perfect Pregnancy series, Volume 1 is a better purchase.

2 Stars Good for the last 2-4 weeks of pregnancy
I’ve been doing yoga for about 5 years. During my last pregnancy and now this one I’ve been using a “regular” yoga DVD and just modify when I start getting bigger. That’s worked well, but I wanted a shorter video for days I can’t do a full hour. It would have been more beneficial to save my money from this and just do half of my normal routine.

The good: The look of it is nice. The setting is pleasant and there is light pleasant music. She’s pleasing to watch. I think it might offer good relief at the very, very end of pregnancy when you can’t do much else.

The bad: I was hoping to find a 30 min. workout that would work me. The majority of this is “warm-ups” (not sun salutations that are a work out themselves). It takes very little athletic ability to do even the “advanced” portions. Also, there is very little to no flow between the moves. She doesn’t explain the movements well, so it’s important to watch it once without doing the workout. I’m sure that’s not that big of a deal if you do this enough to commit it to memory.

5 Stars Comparison of four prenatal yoga workouts
First, a little background of who I am. I am a fairly athletic woman at the end of my second trimester. I was totally unable to workout during my first trimester because I was so very sick. When my second trimester started I felt much better and started looking for some good pregnancy workout DVDs.

I bought four pregnancy yoga DVDs: “The Perfect Pregnancy Workout, vol. 2:Yoga” with Sarah Steben, “Prenatal Yoga Complete” with Mary Pappas-Sandonas, “Prenatal Yoga” with Shiva Rea, and “Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga” with Jennifer Wolfe. Here’s my comparison:

The Perfect Pregnancy Workout, vol. 2:Yoga:

Great workout! The one negative I found is also it’s positive: it was *a bit* challenging to follow the first time through and I had to do it a few times before I really got it down, but I call this a positive because it has much more interesting moves and poses than the other DVDs. Even though I had to take some time to learn something new, I found it to be really worth it. After doing a few times I was finally able to let go of the pregnancy tension I’ve been holding in my calves, hamstrings and lower back! It’s a very energizing take on yoga and when I was done I felt extremely relaxed and tingly.

Prenatal Yoga Complete:

How can I say this kindly? This was definitely NOT the DVD for me. I purchased it because it seemed like it was giving a lot of value for the money, with “over 8 routines for each trimester”, but they didn’t mention how boring those routines were. I know that Iyengar yoga is supposed to be slower-paced, but I literally fast-forwarded through long sections of the workouts without missing anything. My husband walked through while I was doing this and scoffed, “is that supposed to be a workout?”

Prenatal Yoga:

This DVD is so popular and I can see some really great things about it: the set is beautiful, there’s high production value and she gives a solid, beginner’s workout. It is not my cup of tea because although there’s a meditative feel to the DVD she NEVER STOPS TALKING. EVER. I also found it to be too gentle, but that’s just my opinion.

Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga:

A pretty good, fast-paced workout. I enjoyed the moves, but I think that newbies would have a very hard time getting into some of the positions. For example, she does full sun salutations without accounting for the fact that many people lack the mobility to move their feet from downward dog to warrior without modification. She was also pretty chatty and the set was also uninspired, in a small room which reminded me of Jack LaLane circa 1976. I think I’m revealing my age here… Hmm.. I was very, very young then!

I hope this helps save you some money!

2 Stars The Perfect Pregnancy Workout
This DVD had good reviews, I wanted something that would stretch and relax and do some work too, however, I found this video to be very difficult to follow and I’ve practiced Yoga for years. I am just beginning my second trimester with my first child. I feel that the instructor moves way to quickly between positions, and it’s constantly bouncing back and forth between modifications. I couldn’t keep up and was very disappointed. The moves and poses look wonderful, but she doesn’t give you the chance to move thru them and keep up. I found Prenatal Yoga with Shiva Rae to be wonderful!

3 Stars Good!
Her accent and voice is very soft sometimes its hard to understand until you’ve listen to it a few times but I think its still a good workout. I’ve always worked out regularly so I do her advanced exercises.

5 Stars Awesome pregnancy workout!
Excellent program for the more advanced exerciser & mom to be. Perfect combo of cardio, resistance & stretching. Love it!

3 Stars This workout should come with a little warning
This is a really thorough, challenging work out. It’s filmed in kind of a funny way, but once you figure out what’s going on, you get over that. The reason I gave it three stars is because it might not be the best PRENATAL work out. She is constantly talking about “getting your heart rate up,” when you need to be cautious about your heart rate during pregnancy. My heart rate easily got to 150 during the dynamic movement section of the video. My midwife recommends no higher than 130. If you are in really excellent shape pre-pregnancy, then you might be fine. I was in pretty good shape, but doing this video full out is too much and makes my heart rate too high. If you weren’t exercising much at all pre-pregnancy, this video is definitely not for you.

4 Stars Good, Fun workout for beginners….
I really like this workout DVD. Well worth what I paid for it. I use it almost everyday. Erin has a cute personality and makes you feel like you are in an aerobic class with an instructor. The only thing I don’t like about it is that she goes through every move and set like it’s the first time you’ve ever done it so you have to wait for her to explain the moves all over again everytime. I think it would have been better if there was an instructional section guiding you through the moves first then the actual workout so that you can quickly go through the workout rather than waiting for the explanations every single time. (Hope that makes sense) It does get annoying after you’ve done the video about 3 times. I guess the good thing is that she does take the time to explain exactly how the move is supposed to be done to avoid injury. Also, she has special training on exercise during pregnancy so I always feel better knowing that the moves are safe to do and not going to harm me or the baby.

The video is broken down into sections with the warm up being first, strength training (which includes a little cardio- just enough to get your heart rate up but not break a sweat) then the cool down. I have only had the video a little over a month but can tell a difference in my energy level as well as with my lower back pain. It really does help to move around and strengthen those muscles. It also helps me to keep my weight gain in check, which is a big issue for me.

I would say, if you are a beginner or intermediate exerciser, buy it. It’s not too difficult but gets you moving so you feel better and more energized.

Good Luck!

5 Stars the perfect prego workout
I first discovered Erin’s video at our library and found myself checking it out so much that I decided it was worth buying, so I bought the combo pack with the postnatal workout(I’ll let you know how that one is). I love that she does the workout at home with only the props we all have in our living rooms (couch, table, ect). The workout is only 40 minutes which is easy to fit in anytime. I often find myself working in the video between tending to dinner. I definitly work up a sweat, and can feel my mucsles the next day. She’s also pretty funny and the transitions are great and I like the combination of strength training, pilates, and yoga. I highly recommend this video. It’s by far my favorite, and I find myself doing actually looking forward to it!

5 Stars Great workout, no sillyness, no frills, but fun
Great workout. She’s not shrill or silly but is still fun. The partner part is really cool too.

5 Stars Excellent workout–preg-appropriate, offers different levels
I highly recommend this workout because it’s neither too wimpy, but doesn’t kill you. Throughout the various exercises, there are different levels of activity shown and depending on your level of fitness, how you feel that day, or how far along you are, you can decide what you feel up to. It does get the heartrate up–safely–but it’s really about sculpting and staying toned in all the right places. I do this video as well as cardio such as walking and the elliptical. For a totally out of shape person, this workout would be hard but you have to start somewhere, and you could do fewer reps. For someone just looking to stay toned, it’s great, and if you were super fit before pregnancy, this is also excellent because you can follow the “advanced” level.

5 Stars Great prenatal workout dvd
You get a real workout. You get to sweat it out. On screen u get to see 3 (beginner, intermediate, advance) levels at once so u’ll have the option to choose the appropriate level for ur fitness, and also it does not get boring quickly. The pace of the workout is good, and before you know it, the 45min is over.

Only 1 area I find the instruction to be a bit doubtful is that while my gym instructor always stress to bend/lunge legs with knee not over the foot, this one says to bend it over the foot.

4 Stars Excellent workout!
Great full body & cardio work out. Great cues & easy to follow the instructor. I would definitely recommend to anyone who is expecting & is also wanting to stay in shape!

3 Stars challenging but not fun, and impractical
I think this workout is pretty thorough: after I do it, I feel as if most of my muscle groups have worked. It’s manageable for somebody who is medium-fit. It’s more about strength training than cardio, so makes a good complement to walking/swimming/whatever else you do. The things I don’t like about it are: it isn’t broken down into sections, so you have to do the whole 45 minute workout or nothing (or switch off in the middle, which I often do). If you don’t have much time, and/or have another kid or kids who may wake up while you’re trying to work-out, then it’s much better to have a dvd that is in shorter sections (like Leeza Hardt). Also, it is really depressing to look at. The setting is this bleak basement-like warehouse, and it’s dark; it’s somehow a real downer. If I have to watch somebody doing exercises on TV, I’d rather have some mountains or ocean in the background. But that may be just me. I find I have to make myself do this workout, and it feels like a real chore, though I do feel better after I do it.

5 Stars The Only Workout Video I Used!
I used this DVD throughout my twin pregnancy (up until about 8-months), and never got tired of it. I was pretty fit before getting pregnant, but wanted to be very careful (safe) while pregnant, so I looked for a DVD that would guide pregnancy-safe exercise instead of hitting the gym like I was used to. This video was fantastic - it is SO different than most of the others out there - the music, the stagecraft, and Karyne’s gentle voice are quite a contrast to the bouncy, bubbly cheerleading instructor voices that just grate on your nerves. I appreciated the focus on building core strength, the integration of Kegel’s into the routine (which, despite my best intentions, I rarely found myself doing any other time throughout the day), and the workout flow, which covered arms, legs, and belly, in addition to back and overall balance. I also purchased Leisa Hart’s Fit Mama Prenatal Workout, and made it through one viewing - it was a lot more “bouncy,” and much less soothing. I would definitely recommend this for any pregnant mom who wants to stay fit, but also wants to stay relaxed!

3 Stars Overall a good yoga DVD, but not as vigorous as I prefer
To introduce myself, I am 30 years old and weighed about 118 pre-pregnancy. I consider myself to be in good shape.

With that said–I do enjoy doing this DVD. It is very relaxing but it does have some challenging poses that encourage strength and stretch. It is a good DVD to do when I need to just relax while doing gentle movements. It’s a perfect way to start out my day or unwind in the afternoon.

On the flip side, I don’t rely on this DVD for my only activity for the day, as I prefer to actually feel more challenged. I pair this DVD with a trip to the gym or a long, brisk walk. I go to a prenatal yoga class 1-2 times a week that is more vigorous and doesn’t treat me like I am fragile. So, if you exercised regularly before you got pregnant and have done at least a few yoga classes, this one may make you yawn, although I am not advising against it (like I said, it is beneficial, just not for getting you energized). I have ordered FitMama and Pilates for Pregnancy so we’ll see how they measure up…

Hope this helps.

2 Stars Good for stretching, not to get a workout.
I’ve been to yoga classes where you get more of a workout than this one. This is more like a stretching exercise. My complaint is a lot of the stretches seemed to repeat many times. The equipment required for use to follow the exercise like the block, straps are kinda specialised items you’d have to buy. I tried to substitue with items I can find at home like a step stool, and rope.

For a real workout, I prefer the Perfect Pregnancy workout dvd with Karyne Steben.

5 Stars prenatal yoga dvd
Great yoga workout for pregnant women! Seems up-to-date with modifications for pregnant women, unlike other “prenatal” videos I’ve tried. I like the style, the selection and overall tone of the dvd.

5 Stars Nice for the Price
I enjoyed this. Very relaxing music and positions are demonstrated for each trimester. Was not expensive either.

5 Stars Prenatal Yoga
I love this workout! I am in my second trimester, I’m not showing yet, so I am able to follow the first trimester poses for the most part. This video moves at a wonderful pace, has a very nice setting with no annoying music or constant talking. It’s pure instruction and very effective! I absolutely recommend this video to anyone!

5 Stars Great pregnancy workout
This is a GREAT pregnancy workout. Not to strenuous, not to easy. I was able to complete this workout until my 7th month (I got really huge). I even used this workout to loose the baby weight after the baby was born, but it can be annoying to workout with pregnant woman on the screen when your not pregnant!

I was in reasonably good shape before I started this program. May be too strenuous if your pregnant and starting from scratch.

I’d recommend this to any pregnant woman who wants to exercise. It will help you feel a lot better through your pregnancy!

4 Stars For those who complain about it being outdated…
I did this workout when I was pregnant with my first child, when it was only available on VHS. (I now have 3 children, and my oldest is now 9 years old, so I was doing this workout 10 years ago.)

It was recently put on dvd format, and many are complaining that the music, leotards, and decor are outdated.

I wanted to comment that Kathy Smith filmed this workout when she was pregnant herself, so unless she gets pregnant again, there is really no way for her to be pregnant and lead a pregnancy workout…

So yes, the leotards and hairstyles are outdated, but I don’t think Kathy wants to get pregnant again 15 years (give or take) after she had her last one just to make an updated dvd. *smiling*

The workout, however, is effective, and safe for pregnant women-which is what it all boils down to.

5 Stars Great Workout!
This dvd is not at all boring and it is challenging (29 weeks pregnant). Kathy Smith makes it fun and easy to follow along… the music is upbeat.. and I agree that rap part is a lil bit corny, but not at all enough of a reason for me not to purchase, it definately made me sweat a bit .. Oh and let me just state that I was in excellent shape pre-pregnancy… meaning I would workout at the gym 5days a week 2 hours a day… people need to realize that you canot workout at the same entensity level as you did before, because you body is much more prone to injury.. i got the sense by all the reviews that everyone with negative reviews thought it wasnt enough of a workout.. which almost made me not purchase this dvd.. but Im very glad I decided to try it for myself :)

4 Stars Easy to customize!
It’s really easy to skip from chapter to chapter on this dvd and make the workout as long or short as you want. There are three 20 minute aerobic segments to choose from and then several target toning segments. I would like more stretching (a few yoga poses would be perfect!). It does get your heart rate going. If you can get over the cheesy early 90s color scheme/decor, its a good workout.

2 Stars Meh.
The workouts are okaaayyy (and I do appreciate the fact they’re segmented), but it is clearly for those who are new to exercising. If you’re just starting to work out, this will be a great DVD. If you’ve been exercising prior to getting pregnant, this DVD will bore you.

2 Stars I wouldn’t call it a workout…
I am glad I rented Pilates in Pregnancy instead of buying it. I hesitate to call it a workout. It was more instructional than something I would actually use as a workout. Maybe if it came with cards (it might if you buy it) telling you what comes next… so you could do it without the dvd when you know the exercises… maybe that would be better.

It is put out by a British woman, so it was at least fun to listen to her talk. There was an “Introduction” section that I watched some of (it was really slow and boring - should have given me a hint as to the tone of the workout!) about neutral spine, breathing, and the pelvic floor.

Next came a warmup - about 7 minutes, only 4 moves. Here is the main defect I see in this workout. Each move has at least a minute of explanation beforehand. You should, I think, be able to select the workout without the explanations. It was ok the first time, but MY GOD, it would be so boring if I was doing it more than once.

There is a workout for Early Pregnancy, Later Pregnancy, and Post-Pregnancy. Here is another problem - if you go to the next chapter (so you can skip the Early Pregnancy section, for example), you have to skip through each exercise separately. I could have gone back to the main menu and skipped to the Later Pregancy workout, but it didn’t seem worth it. SO - had to skip through the 12 exercises outlined in the Early Pregnancy workout before getting to mine. (I am 24 weeks pregnant)

The moves were pretty good, again, but nothing new, and nothing challenging at all. And they spend about 2-3 minutes on each move. First, explain, explain, explain… then set-up. Are you sure you are set up properly? Ok… let’s do the “exercise,” (and I generally use this term loosely with this dvd).

There is only one person doing the moves (there were two doing the warm-up - wonder what happened to the other lady? Maybe she got bored and left…) I think it is the same woman who is doing the voice-over. She is pregnant, maybe 5 or 6 months?

I can’t say much about the moves. Again, nothing new, nothing challenging, I guess it felt good, but I wish I had done something else this morning. SO - back it goes to Netflix. A pilates workout I like better for pregnancy is Jennifer Gianni’s Fusion Pilates for Pregnancy.

1 Star rent before buying!
After reading the reviews posted here I decided to rent it before buying. What a good decision! The pace is just painfully slow. The stretches are all very nice and very gentle, but to be honest I could not even finish it. It stops between all moves to introduce the next move, and while you can certainly fast-forward through those intros, it’s very annoying to have to do that. If you have 1.5 hours to kill and aren’t looking for a good-paced workout, then I guess this DVD would be good for you. I’ll never use it again, though.

5 Stars Cure for my tailbone pain!
I’m in my 15th week of pregnancy and suffered with intermittent but increasing pain in my tailbone for 2 weeks. I walk my dogs about 30-40 minutes per day and was moderately fit/toned all along so this pain was unusual. Putting socks and shoes on or picking up something from the floor was becoming severe agony. I was going to call my doctor to get chiropractic permission but I tried this DVD 1 time and it was like a switch that releived the pain. I felt 95% better immediatly after completing the warmup and early pregnancy portions of the video. I agree with some reveiwers that it seems a bit slow but go with the pace and you’ll feel the magic. It’s not for someone looking to transform their figure or get a good cardio workout- there are other great videos available for cardio lovers.

1 Star Put me to sleep!
This was supposed to be one of the better pilates tapes, but it put me right to sleep. I hated her voice.

I ended up taking a class instead!

2 Stars Slow and boring
The long explanations are overkill, even for the first time you do the workout. It almost put me to sleep. The workout itself is very low-intensity.
