4 Stars Good exercises
I like the exercises on this video. The lady that leads them is a little weird, though. Sometimes it sounds like she isn’t sure what she’s talking about. I would have liked to have seen ahead of time that I would need certain equipment in order to participate in all the workouts, like a strength band, a medicine ball, what size weights, etc. Over all, though, it’s a really good work out.

5 Stars Rated as a Top prental DVD for a reason
I really enjoyed this DVD. Out of all of the prenatal DVDs I have used, this one demonstrated the most thorough understanding of the physiological needs and demands of a woman in all phases of pregnancy. The exercises are challenging enough, yet I really felt safe. My highest recommendation.

5 Stars Great Workout
This is a great yoga workout, especially for someone who regularly does yoga. It has a good pace. I found a lot of prenatal workouts to be too slow and boring. The best part is that you can choose the length of the workout.

3 Stars Lunges get boring after a while
This yoga dvd is fine a few times, but the repetition of so many lunges is boring after a few workouts. I would have liked a bit more variety. I own both her pre-natal yoga dvds and my comment would be the same for the other one as well.

5 Stars Best Prenatal Fitness Video I’ve Found So Far
I’ve been trying a lot of prenatal fitness videos lately, and I haven’t been all that impressed. My husband bought me this one for Christmas and it is head and shoulders above the other videos I’ve tried. Granted, it’s not the same as taking a class in person, but that’s not much of an option for me as a second-time mom, and I found Jennifer Wolfe’s approach to prenatal yoga to be fairly unique compared to other videos.

The modifications she’s made to create a vinyasa that will work in pregnancy feel very fluid to me (e.g., moving the thumbs together in downward-facing dog to allow room for a leg to come forward around a big belly). I tried some more strenuous yoga with my first pregnancy and found it too much for me, but this time around, with this video, I feel challenged but strong, especially in my arms and upper body. I’m also still experiencing the late 1st trimester exhaustion and was worried this would just leave me more tired; on the contrary, I left the practice feeling energized. My 3.5-year-old loved it, too. She did the 15-minute practice with me and then asked to do it again when we were done!

I love that I can choose to do a 15-, 30- or 45-minute practice. This really works well while I try to fit in exercise and keep up with a preschooler.

There were a couple of movements that tweaked some pains I have in my lower abdominal muscles/ligaments, but I just backed off and did a slightly less deep version of the stretch. I’ve never found a video that fit my body perfectly, pregnant or not, so I’ve become accustomed to modifying as my body directs me to.

5 Stars Pregnant and Happy!
I too was looking for a yoga video that would be challenging as I was previously doing Bikram yoga until I was pregnant. The video isn’t as challenging as Bikram yoga (for obvious reasons), however it gets my heart rate high enough to experience a real workout.

Another great thing with this dvd is the option for various timed workouts allowing you to fit it in to a busy schedule, however the 45min workout is the best.

4 Stars Good Vinyasa yoga workout
This yoga practice is very good if you’re looking for a more challenging yoga workout. If you practiced yoga before you got pregnant and are looking for a more difficult workout you will be more satisfied with this than many other pregnancy yoga workouts. It moves at a good pace. The 15, 30, and 45 minutes practices are all a little different which gives a nice variety so you don’t get bored doing the same thing every time. It’s also nice to be able to choose which one you want based on the time you have available.

5 Stars Great all-around workout
I walked throughout my first pregnancy but was too sick at the beginning this time around, so I started at 20 weeks quite out of shape. I was surprised at how much Erin gets my heart rate up just from doing lunges, squats, etc. I feel like every exercise is really doing something to prepare me for labor and delivery, and I’ll be using it even when I’m not pregnant to keep toned. I’ve tried other pregnancy workouts like 10 minute Prenatal Pilates and Denise Austin’s Fit and Firm Pregnancy, and the others have been super modified so that my non-pregnant exercise buddies get no workout. I love that the moves Erin does are simple but work me hard enough that I’m still working up to doing all of the reps.

I can do this workout in my bedroom or living room with no props, and my two year old even likes doing it with me!

5 Stars Pleased with my purchase
Prior to pregnancy, I worked out quite a bit–but I’m no athlete. I was nervous about buying a video because I didn’t want anything too easy or too hard. This video fits the bill. It’s long enough (40 minutes) that I don’t feel like I’m cheating on excercise. It’s tough enough that I definitely break a sweat. I like that there are different sections: warm up, standing work, floor work, stretching. I read other reviews complaining about the background music and the scenery, but it doesn’t bother me–I’ll only be pregnant another 6 months, then I can go back to a different workout. Overall, I love this video, and agree with the other people that gave it 5 stars.

4 Stars Great workout
I have been working out throughout my pregnancy (I’m 23 1/2 weeks right now) and really enjoy this workout. The first time I did it, the lunges and squats were kinda tough, but since it has gotten easier. The workout is a nice pace and feels shorter than it is to me. I love that she reminds you to keep your abs engaged and I like the oblique work since you can’t lay flat it is nice to work the abs in creative ways. Some days that I do this, my lower body is more sore than when I do my non-prenatal dvd’s using weights. I think it must have to do with my form and the sequencing of the exercises and reps. I wish there was a little more upper body work but I can easily add a few exercises if needed. The tricep dips are tough and work a much needed area. All in all, I love it and will continue to do this workout as I am able.

5 Stars a great workout!
I am 30 yrs old 14 weeks into my pregnancy. 5′1 114 lbs. Before purchasing a dvd workout for my pregnancy i read the reviews on some of them, especially the higher ratings one. Regardless of the 4 stars this video recieved I purchased it. I am so immensely excited over this video. Not only does it make me feel great its easy despite what other reviewers mentioned. Before my pregnancy I excercised, typical treadmil, no marathons or climbing Mt. Everest. I was able to finish this dvd without panting or fainting! I pop this in 3-4 times a week. I highly recommend this video to keep you in shape and raise your energy levels.

4 Stars Great lower body work out, makes me feel good afterward
This DVD is a great supplement to walking or whatever else you might do to stay fit during pregnancy. There is a warm up, some dynamic movement (squats, lunges), some floor work, and a cool down. Erin has a relaxing, calming influence, which I enjoy. The only reason I gave it four stars is that I expected to sweat more and to have more aerobics in it. If you have done aerobics for a while, even in your past, you shouldn’t have trouble following the moves. I definitely feel stronger since starting this (I’m currently almost 21 weeks along). Sometimes my legs and butt are a little sore, so I know it’s working! Definitely a good choice for an at home workout. Also, comes with a Post-Natal DVD that I’m looking forward to! Haven’t tried the partner workout.

5 Stars Awesome pregnancy workout!
Excellent program for the more advanced exerciser & mom to be. Perfect combo of cardio, resistance & stretching. Love it!

3 Stars This workout should come with a little warning
This is a really thorough, challenging work out. It’s filmed in kind of a funny way, but once you figure out what’s going on, you get over that. The reason I gave it three stars is because it might not be the best PRENATAL work out. She is constantly talking about “getting your heart rate up,” when you need to be cautious about your heart rate during pregnancy. My heart rate easily got to 150 during the dynamic movement section of the video. My midwife recommends no higher than 130. If you are in really excellent shape pre-pregnancy, then you might be fine. I was in pretty good shape, but doing this video full out is too much and makes my heart rate too high. If you weren’t exercising much at all pre-pregnancy, this video is definitely not for you.

4 Stars Good, Fun workout for beginners….
I really like this workout DVD. Well worth what I paid for it. I use it almost everyday. Erin has a cute personality and makes you feel like you are in an aerobic class with an instructor. The only thing I don’t like about it is that she goes through every move and set like it’s the first time you’ve ever done it so you have to wait for her to explain the moves all over again everytime. I think it would have been better if there was an instructional section guiding you through the moves first then the actual workout so that you can quickly go through the workout rather than waiting for the explanations every single time. (Hope that makes sense) It does get annoying after you’ve done the video about 3 times. I guess the good thing is that she does take the time to explain exactly how the move is supposed to be done to avoid injury. Also, she has special training on exercise during pregnancy so I always feel better knowing that the moves are safe to do and not going to harm me or the baby.

The video is broken down into sections with the warm up being first, strength training (which includes a little cardio- just enough to get your heart rate up but not break a sweat) then the cool down. I have only had the video a little over a month but can tell a difference in my energy level as well as with my lower back pain. It really does help to move around and strengthen those muscles. It also helps me to keep my weight gain in check, which is a big issue for me.

I would say, if you are a beginner or intermediate exerciser, buy it. It’s not too difficult but gets you moving so you feel better and more energized.

Good Luck!

5 Stars the perfect prego workout
I first discovered Erin’s video at our library and found myself checking it out so much that I decided it was worth buying, so I bought the combo pack with the postnatal workout(I’ll let you know how that one is). I love that she does the workout at home with only the props we all have in our living rooms (couch, table, ect). The workout is only 40 minutes which is easy to fit in anytime. I often find myself working in the video between tending to dinner. I definitly work up a sweat, and can feel my mucsles the next day. She’s also pretty funny and the transitions are great and I like the combination of strength training, pilates, and yoga. I highly recommend this video. It’s by far my favorite, and I find myself doing actually looking forward to it!

5 Stars Great workout, no sillyness, no frills, but fun
Great workout. She’s not shrill or silly but is still fun. The partner part is really cool too.

5 Stars I can’t help it, I love Denise Austin
Denise Austin is perpetually spunky and happy and cute. I actually caught myself SMILING throughout the whole DVD because she was telling me to. Most of the pregnancy fitness DVDs on the market are about calming down and relaxing… yoga, etc. It’s nice to actually stand up and do some cardio.

The level of exercise is DEFINITELY moderate, but you can increase it or decrease it depending on the size of the movements you make.

I appreciate that the routines are somewhat easier than normal DVDs - and my pregnancy brain appreciates that, too. I also enjoy that there is a weight-training section.

I’d say buy it! Especially for that price.

5 Stars Great Video
I love this video. It is great for firming and toning while pregnant and can be used in addition to a moderate exercise routine.

4 Stars Great work out for all stages of pregnacy
You will use this video! I like it because it is low impact so I do it on the days I’m feeling tired too. It’s a great all over work out that will make you feel refreshed and energized.

3 Stars OK
The video is pretty good. I have a couple others that give me a much better work out. It was inexpensive and I would buy again.

5 Stars GREAT workout for pregnancy!!
I LOVE this video! The workout is not to hard, but it will definately get your heart pumping. Its not to long either, so theres no getting bored or worn out before you complete it. I have recommended this to all my pregnant friends!

Quick Fix Pre Natal Workout

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Excellent strength workout
I am 37 years old and 5 months pregnant with my 3rd child. I have exercised all my life though not always consistently. I just started this workout and completed all 3 workouts in one session and felt great afterwards. I have only been walking 3 to 4 times a week prior to receiving this DVD. My arms and legs were sore the next day but not too sore to move. I used 4lb weights in place of the water bottles she uses and had no problems finishing each exercise. The workout is lead by Nancy Popp who if any of you are Weight Watchers alumni… she leads the 3 pack of Weight Watcher DVD workouts. Obviously she is pregnant in this DVD and is clear and concise with directions as in her other videos. I don’t find her annoying like Denise Austin or some of the others. I will continue to workout to this DVD along with the Erin O’Brien Prenatal fitness fix. You can see my review for that DVD as well. I am happy with both purchases. They were both worth the money spent. I will be in better shape for labor and will hopefully fend off gaining a lot of weight this pregnancy!

3 Stars It’s OK
I bought this and used it only maybe twice. The work out is good, if you can follow it. The music is cheesy and outdated.

3 Stars Better than nothing, but…
Let me start by saying that I absolutely hate to exercise and accept it only as one of those neccessary evils of pregnancy. I started exercising a bit before getting pregnant and found the QuickFix series and Leslie Sansone’s walking DVDs best suited for my level of “excitement” and schedule.

Good thing about this DVD is that, like all other QuickFix DVDs, it’s divided into 3 10-minute sections with a clock counting down minutes till the end of torture. Also exercise doesn’t really require any special equipment (such as belts, balls, etc.) and is suitable for the beginners and pregnant women in third trimester.

But here are the bad things. Nancy Popp takes way too long to explain some movements and not long enough for others. (This is actually a problem with all of her QuickFix segments.) Out of 10 minutes there is really 8 minutes of exercise. Sometimes you get stuck in some awkward pose for much too long. There should’ve been a separate section on DVD with all the explanations and then a pure workout section. At the same time, Nancy hardly ever mentions proper breathing and very poorly cueues, especially when exercise involves taking your eyes off the screen.

First section involves arm and leg movements and squats. It’s probably perfect for women in 3rd trimester, but at the end of 2nd I find it a bit slow and boring (and, mind you, I’m not a fit person). Second workout is mostly for arms and here, on the other hand, I felt that some movements were unnecessarily strenous for the upper back. (Although I did use 3 lb weights instead of water bottles.)

Third workout (abdominals) was of most interest to me, since late in pregnancy we can’t do any exercise laying down on the back. The workout starts sitting on the floor with legs crossed in front - for some reason this pose just makes my back hurt instantly, even though I usually don’t have any problems with it. About 5 min. out of 10 are Kegels and breathing in and out. Other 2 min. are needed just to re-position yourself between the movements.

Also what’s up with the Nancy’s two companions? Their smiles look so artificial, it’s painful to watch - poor ladies. And I just couldn’t take my eyes of the black nail polish on one of the ladies.

Overall it’s better than doing nothing, but I’m sure there’s something beter there. Early in pregnancy I wouldn’t even bother with this DVD.

5 Stars All Time Favorite
This was my all time favorite pregnancy workout DVD. You can select from 3 ten minute workouts or do all three, it all depends upon what type of energy level you are feeling that day. And I started this mid-to late pregnancy and it is totally safe and make me feel really good after a long day at work. Highly recommend this one!!!!

4 Stars Not bad at all
I have been taking prenatal yoga classes and this dvd is a exactly what it’s titled - it’s a quick fix of prenatal yoga classes. I wish that it came with the necessary yoga equipment but this plus a mat and ball would make an excellent pregnancy gift for expectant mothers!

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Lots of variety; do-able 15 minute segments, but lots of equipment!
One important thing I should let you know about up front, is that this is the SAME as the DVD with a different cover but same title. There is one with a purple cover and then one with a sort of beige cover. They are the same content. I know because I emailed the author of the DVD to ask before purchasing! So look for the best deal and don’t worry about the color of the cover.

I was looking for a workout video that would give me lots of options and not require me to commit to a long workout. I am 42 and pregnant with our 6th, and just do not have the energy to do an exercise routine of more than 30 minutes at a time. I break up my exercise throughout the day.

A previous reviewer gave some great comments and I will echo them here. The classical music is a really nice change and very lovely. The presenter is nice…not overly bubbly and fake like some fitness-video-stars. I think this will wear well over time. She does however, occasionally seem to just briefly lose her train of thought. Not anything major, and it doesn’t bother me, but if you like a really slick production it might bug you. Similarly, sometimes the camera work is a little choppy, focusing on the wrong thing at the wrong time. Again, I did not find it to be real bothersome, and with repetition I was able to do all the exercises with no problem, but it is worth mentioning if it might help someone else decide about the DVD.

I like the setting. They seem to be in some kind of lakeside lodge and you can see the trees and the water outside the windows. It is pretty.

The sections are all geared to stretching, yoga, or strength building. I do not think you could genuinely call this a cardio workout in any way. You might break a sweat doing some of the exercises, but it is not a cardio workout the way a good brisk walk is. She provides one section that is entirely floorwork where you are lying down so that you can still work out on days where you are tired or not feeling the best.

The instructor really does seem to have a good understanding of what pregnant women are going through physically, and is very encouraging. She describes her own difficult pregnancy, gaining 80 pounds and then losing them. Also, she highlights (in several places on the DVD) the importance of breastfeeding to mother and baby, both in terms of quality food and helping mom regain her shape. I appreciate that.

The variety of props needed was a little off-putting for me: exercise ball, bench (A piano bench can be used if necessary), resistance machine, weights, medicine ball or basketball. I tried to modify sometimes to adapt if I did not have a piece of equipment she was using, but it is not always possible. It will not be so for everyone, but for me, this is a drawback to using the workouts.

Still, I think this is a very useful pregnancy workout, overlooked (for some reason) and far down in the search results. The variety and amount of workout material alone (6-15 minute workouts!) make it really good value. I think many women would find it helpful.

2 Stars Not Amazingly Horrible, Not Amazing Either
I spent much more than I should have for this DVD. I did not buy this on Amazon, I went to Borders and purchased this. If you want this DVD workout, I say do not spend more than 15 dollars on this. I wanted a DVD which had lots of different workouts that did not take up a lot of my time. Judging from the back cover this DVD seemed like the best choice. I kind of wished that I could have returned it once i opened the DVD and put it in the player.

First off, she requires lots of equipment I think a 15 minute work out shouldn’t have.It should at least mention on the cover all the equipment needed. If I had known about the equipment, I wouldn’t have bought this. It will take you 15 minutes just to get all the equipment she wants you to use. I did not own any of the equipment she mentions except for the yoga mat. I wasn’t going to go out and buy expensive equipment, so I tried using substitutes, but still you don’t know if you are getting the best maximum workout. There is only a few workouts on the whole DVD that doesn’t require equipment, so lately I find myself only doing those ones.

The DVD is not very professional at all. The camera man doesn’t know what to focus on. The trainer girl is nice, but sometimes you wonder how she became a trainer. And you wonder how she managed to pull off her own prenatal workout DVD. In one segment, it even has you lay on your back, which makes me a little worried because I thought women were not supposed to be on their back when pregnant.

I have a few other prenatal DVD’s but on days when I’m tired of those, I will pull this one off the shelf. I do like the fact that she uses pilates…but other than that, I am not the biggest fan of this DVD.

4 Stars Requires a lot of equipment
This DVD contains a lot of wonderful exercises. In fact, many of these are similar to exercises recommended by my physical therapist to improve core body strength and alleviate lower back pain during my first pregnancy. The classical music is also a nice touch, and I like the relaxation segment at the end.

The main criticism I have is that this DVD requires a lot of exercise equipment in order to follow along with the exercises as demonstrated. In the first three segmants alone, Patrea used a yoga mat, an exercise ball, a towel, lots of pillows, resistance bands, and 1-5 lb. dumbells. Some of the exercises also require a partner or a special resistance band that can be attached to a wall or a door. If you already own all of this equipment, you will be fine. Otherwise, you will need to learn to modify the exercises so you don’t need the equipment, or you will need to go out and buy some new equipment!!!

While Patrea seems a little stiff and serious at times (not at all hyper or pollyannaish), this is actually a refreshing change from the typical video instructor. She cues well and offers plenty of modifications for safety and comfort. All in all, this is a solid pregnancy video and I plan to use it for my entire pregnancy.
