5 Stars A Good Workout
I am ending my first trimester and was excited to try a new workout program. Not only is this great for when you are pregnant but it will be a great workout tool even after I have the baby. It was quick yet covered the total body. I would recommend this series to anyone looking to stay fit during and after your pregnancy.

4 Stars doable
Definitely a “doable” work-out; helped me stay active as I got huge. Yoga section helpful, too.

3 Stars Ok, but several things bothered me about it…
When I first did this workout I thought it was an interesting change from my regular workouts, definately energizing, and the use of the light 2 and 5 pound weights for arm toning was great. What bothered me about it was that the instructor, although perky & likeable enough, was not pregnant and looks barely out of high school. On rare occasions a small pop-up window shows the 3rd trimester pregnant woman, but for one she’s wearing black dumpy clothes so you can hardly see her belly (presumably so she won’t distract from the instructor in her sassy workout clothes) and for two she seems way more in shape than any average pregnant woman. Also, there are no heartrate checks - just reminders to listen to how you feel.

After several days of doing this workout I started feeling like maybe it was just too intense for a 7 month pregnant woman on her second pregnancy. If you’re in great shape already this might be for you, but if you’re just the average gal in average shape I’d skip it. I’d feel a little better about it if she really was pregnant but in the end I just can’t trust the judgement of someone who has never experienced what it’s really like and what you can reasonably expect your body to do safely.

5 Stars My favourite of the pre-natal DVD’s
This is my favorite prenatal yoga DVD (I have bought many!). I keep pretty fit (light running, walking, light weights etc.) and this DVD compliments the regime perfectly. I always feel like I’ve actually had a workout afterwards. This is my second pregnancy and the half hour sessions are better now that I have a demanding toddler. I alternate between the 3 different sessions (the 2nd trimester is great for my back) and so never get bored.

I’ve seen comments about poor production - I note I am more interested in the actual workout than production. For example, Shiva Rea’s DVD, while it is well-produced, drives me mad as it is too easy and slow.

Other DVD’s I like are Dr. Christine Anderson’s Dynamic Prenatal Yoga DVD (longer, was great for my first pregnancy … again production not great) and the Perfect Pregnancy Workout (love this one).

2 Stars I’d get a different video
The production quality on this DVD is horrible. It sounds like something I could make in my backyard. This I would overlook if it was an outstanding yoga workout. But in the second trimester, some of the moves involve moving from a flat, lying position to a backbend like move very quickly, and it makes me dizzy every single time. I doubt I am the only pregnant lady this would happen to. I am a beginning yogist, but not completely inept. I liked having three workouts tailored by trimester, and the rest of the moves were good, but I wish I had purchased a different DVD.

5 Stars Wonderful pregnancy yoga series
This is a wonderful prenatal yoga video series. Includes the three dvds - 45 min first trimester, 35 min second trimester, 37 min third trimester. Very nice having three separate videos so you don’t get bored with one routine. Great stretching & strengthening coordinating the breath, helps you to feel lengthened and calmer by the end. Not too intense so you are able to complete each tape even through the nauseous and tired months. Very relaxing and natural settings.

You do not have to have prior yoga experience to enjoy these videos. Sara talks you through each movement. The videos focus on yoga postures with breath-coordinated movement (for those who are familiar with yoga, its similar to moderately intense vinyasa yoga style) rather than a yoga approach that jumps from one posture to the next (hatha yoga).

I have three other prenatal yoga & workout videos (Shiva Rea, Erin O’Brien, Tracey Mallett), Sara’s is the one I prefer the most.

5 Stars Great prenatal yoga class
I’m currently in my third trimester, and I’ve been using Holliday’s DVDs regularly since the second trimester (I started with her second trimester DVD). I really feel a benefit from using them — so far I’ve had very little back pain and I feel pretty limber for a pregnant woman. I just started Lamaze classes and can tell that the breathing I do in the DVD is going to help a lot with that as well.

The issues with the DVD production that some other reviewers have mentioned hasn’t really bothered me. It’s true, though, that the production value isn’t very high and the workout doesn’t seem to have been edited. Holliday makes a few little mistakes when she’s speaking but after you’ve done the workout once or twice you can tell what she means, so that really didn’t detract from it for me. The lack of music doesn’t bother me.

The only thing I don’t like about the workout is that sometimes it seems a little rushed when moving between poses (this happened in the Second Trimester workout as well). In the section at the end where she relaxes each muscle with a deep breath, she goes way too fast for me to actually take deep breaths.

Overall, though, a great DVD. Holliday has a very calm, kind personality and the stretches really feel good. I really anticipate that it will help me with my labor and delivery.

5 Stars Lovely little DVD
My wife tends to put things off . . . she assumed childbirth would work out that way, too. She fully expected to be on the extended trimester plan, giving birth to a post-term infant who was already in medium Fuzzi Bunz.

So, a mere four days before her due date, she decided it was time to start doing yoga. She put this in on a Friday night just to listen. Our son was born the next day.

I’m not saying this DVD started the whole shebang, but it was a soothing way to experience our last night as non-parents. As a practitioner of various forms of yoga, I think this is an excellent DVD to start with . . . or end with, as the case may be.

5 Stars Perfect for Third Trimester
Love this video. I’m a casual yoga-goer and finally found the tape that works for me! The instructor does a wonderful job of keeping a nice pace and walking you through each pose. The routine is challenging enough to keep you interested, and the instructor verbally will guide you if you like to keep your eyes closed or focused on your own body, you do not need to keep looking up at the screen to follow along. I will do this program over and over again until I deliver!

3 Stars It’s not bad, but…
I just got this DVD 3 days ago and tried it once, so I can’t tell if it’s gonna work for me or not when it comes to the program itself, but I’m going to give it a try and do it 2-3 times a week.

The reasons why I didn’t like it so much from the beginning were:

1. I didn’t like that there was no music in the background. It would be easier for me to concentrate if there was music. If you don’t care - it’s obviously not a big deal.

2. I do believe that breathing in Yoga is very important and sometimes I found it difficult to follow Sara’s directions when it came to breathing because for some reason what she says doesn’t always correspond with what’s on the screen. E.g. she says “Inhale, arms up” but the video is showing her with her arms down. I find it quite confusing.

2 Stars Okay, but…
I thought this was just okay. I did feel very relaxed afterwards and might do it again for the stretching. When your muscles are sore from the gym, for example, this would be nice. But it’s not really all that difficult, if that’s what you’re looking for. Certainly not like a yoga class, though I’ve never taken prenatal yoga.

5 Stars Love it!
This is my favorite workout in my third trimester. It keeps me feeling good. I attribute this workout and the others I do to the reason I am still so mobile and able to do things almost like I usually do. It completely loosens everything up. Say goodbye to backaches and all those other pregnancy aches. I really like the prenatal modification for sun salutations, it is much more effective than the versions on my other workouts. This is a little slow for first and second tri if you usually exercise. If you want a more challenging 1st and 2nd tri workout try Kira Landgolf’s Total Body Tone or Erin O’Brian’s Prenatal Fitness Fix. I learned the hard way to stick with prenatal workouts in pregnancy, regardless of how good you may feel. I tore a muscle from overdoing (tricked by the relaxin I guess) during a regular workout. It took over a month to heal. I haven’t tried the postnatal workout yet, I’ll add a review when I get to that point. This DVD was very worth it. Other good prenatal workouts include Shiva Rea’s prenatal yoga and Crunch Yoga Mama. They are good quality, I used them during both of my pregnancies. If you are an experienced exerciser, they are really best for third tri. Try the ones I recommended above for the earlier days or just go for brisk walks (Leslie Sansone’s walking workouts have been great too!)

5 Stars Great, quick yoga workout
I did yoga for stretching and relaxation fairly often before becoming pregnant. Once my doctor discouraged my regular yoga class, I decided to try a prenatal video. This is one of several I’ve tried and by far my favorite. It is only 30 minutes but still feels like a good yoga workout - you feel relaxed, flexible and centered at the end, not sweaty or exhausted. The queing is good and I find Heather’s voice relaxing. There’s also a postnatal workout on the dvd that I plan to put to use in a few months.

2 Stars Not Great
I bought this in my 3rd trimester and only did it once. I am a big workout DVD fan but this just didn’t do it for me. It was boring and I found it to be of poor quality and a little too “fruity” for my liking.

5 Stars Workout feels GREAT in third trimester
I love this DVD. She does some really nice fluid stretches that are relaxing AND strengthening/limbering at the same time. For me, it’s exactly the kind of exercise I was looking for for my current stage of pregnancy (3rd trimester). I have been feeling achy and tired, so I love how my body feels happy/calm during and after this workout. I also find her really sweet and personable and a pleasure to exercise with. I actually laughed with her a few times like she was in the room with me. (My husband found it amusing.)

4 Stars good workout
I really liked this workout. It was good stretching mixed with some pretty hard moves. It really loosened up some leg cramps I have been having. But it’s not just lying around stretching, it really makes you work your muscles! I liked how she explained the moves and wasn’t annoyingly peppy. Over all I liked it and plan to use it until the end of my pregnancy.

5 Stars Great
This is a great workout. It really relaxes u too. I should do it more often too…

I was really achy after the first workout since I haven’t worked out in the 6 months prior to starting…. My thigh were sore with the squatting. This is not meant as a critique at all but more as a good thing meaning that it obviously works to tone your muscles.

I LOVE IT!

5 Stars Great for those with Back/Sciatica Problems
I bought this DVD in my second trimester. It is no impact exercising. I suffer from lower back, sciatica and knee problems. Even walking aggravates my back while pregnant. This is the only workout I can do while pregnant. I do it six days a week and find it provides great relief for my sciatica, aching lower back and hips. Finally….I’m regaining my muscle tone with the help of this DVD.

5 Stars Fun and comfortable
I liked this video because it isn’t overly strenuous, yet it keeps me in shape. I struggled with using the arm weights, but I have weak arms, so it isn’t probably hard for someone who uses weights more frequently. I have a baby girl that I carry, yet still struggled with the arm weights!! But this video is fun and easy to do, and I really enjoy listening to Tracey while I exercise with her. Hopefully my arms will be more tone before I even have this baby!!

10 Minute Solution Prenatal Pilates

No Time To Exercise? We have the solution for you – the 10 Minute Solution! Everyone can find at least ten minutes in their day, and we’ve developed 5 dynamic workouts that are just 10 minutes each. The workouts were designed to help you stay fit and healthy throughout your pregnancy. These compact workouts fit into even the busiest of schedules. Split them into 5 separate workouts or do them all together for one amazing, prenatal Pilates workout! Highlighted in the August 16th, 2007 issue of The New York Times, this DVD will allow you to modify your workouts to your pregnant body.

Pilates For Buns & Thighs: Get ready to strengthen your lower body and get toned, firm thighs and buns – even as your belly continues to get bigger.

Standing Pilates: For this segment, instructor Lizbeth Garcia reworked traditional mat work into standing exercises that help improve strength, balance and coordination – things needed throughout pregnancy, especially needed in the third trimester.

Core Pilates: This workout focuses on strengthening your core muscles to help you bounce back from delivery and may even help to reduce lower back pain during pregnancy.

Pilates For Flexibility: Allow your body and mind to relax while you focus on releasing tight muscles through fluid exercises that will increase your flexibility and overall sense of well-being.

Total Body Pilates: Designed to develop overall muscle strength and flexibility, this segment will help you firm and tone your body. It may also make delivery easier by teaching you how to breathe deeply and evenly while tightening the muscles of your pelvic floor.

POSTNATAL BONUS WORKOUT: FLAT BELLY FAST As a special bonus to use after your pregnancy, this core-focused segment created by instructor Suzanne Bowen zeros in on the deepest abdominal muscles with a singular goal: to flatten your belly fast. A set of 2- 3 pound dumbbells and 1-2 pillows are recommended for this workout.

5 Stars Great DVD
It is a great workout video! She is an encouragment to all women and her teaching style is great.

5 Stars So far, been liking it a lot!
The back exercises are really too short to be problematic… all in all, seems like a wholesome workout, and she’s clear and easy to follow. Thanks!

5 Stars 10 minute solution: prenatal pilates
This is a great dvd at a great price. I like that you can customize your workout by choosing which 10 minute sessions you want to do and in what order.

5 Stars A great workout for pregnant moms
I am 28 weeks pregnant and have been using this dvd for the past two weeks. I am new to pilates and I have to say so far it’s been great. The instructor is easy to follow, she gives good tips for modification, slowly adds difficulty to the exercises, and seems very natural. Yes, there are short segments on your back, but all the while you are moving, (tilted abs, spinal twists and precursor to bridges, which by the way, the latter two, you do in regular prenatal yoga class). The instructor herself is 36 weeks pregnant and I doubt she would put herself at risk either. I love the option to mix and match your workout or do as much as your busy schedule allows. Over all, great buy, I would definitely recommend it to stay in shape and would give it to my friends for use.

5 Stars Just what I was looking for!
I love this video. Before I bought this one I had tried 3 other prenatal workout vidoes and none of them relly left me feeling like I had done much for my body once I was done with them. I actually broke out in a sweat with this one and felt more energized afterwards. The individual 10 min. workouts, makes it really convenient to start a stop when I need to. I would highly recommend this video to moms who want to stay in great shape and feel good while pregnant!

4 Stars Excellent strength workout
I am 37 years old and 5 months pregnant with my 3rd child. I have exercised all my life though not always consistently. I just started this workout and completed all 3 workouts in one session and felt great afterwards. I have only been walking 3 to 4 times a week prior to receiving this DVD. My arms and legs were sore the next day but not too sore to move. I used 4lb weights in place of the water bottles she uses and had no problems finishing each exercise. The workout is lead by Nancy Popp who if any of you are Weight Watchers alumni… she leads the 3 pack of Weight Watcher DVD workouts. Obviously she is pregnant in this DVD and is clear and concise with directions as in her other videos. I don’t find her annoying like Denise Austin or some of the others. I will continue to workout to this DVD along with the Erin O’Brien Prenatal fitness fix. You can see my review for that DVD as well. I am happy with both purchases. They were both worth the money spent. I will be in better shape for labor and will hopefully fend off gaining a lot of weight this pregnancy!

3 Stars It’s OK
I bought this and used it only maybe twice. The work out is good, if you can follow it. The music is cheesy and outdated.

3 Stars Better than nothing, but…
Let me start by saying that I absolutely hate to exercise and accept it only as one of those neccessary evils of pregnancy. I started exercising a bit before getting pregnant and found the QuickFix series and Leslie Sansone’s walking DVDs best suited for my level of “excitement” and schedule.

Good thing about this DVD is that, like all other QuickFix DVDs, it’s divided into 3 10-minute sections with a clock counting down minutes till the end of torture. Also exercise doesn’t really require any special equipment (such as belts, balls, etc.) and is suitable for the beginners and pregnant women in third trimester.

But here are the bad things. Nancy Popp takes way too long to explain some movements and not long enough for others. (This is actually a problem with all of her QuickFix segments.) Out of 10 minutes there is really 8 minutes of exercise. Sometimes you get stuck in some awkward pose for much too long. There should’ve been a separate section on DVD with all the explanations and then a pure workout section. At the same time, Nancy hardly ever mentions proper breathing and very poorly cueues, especially when exercise involves taking your eyes off the screen.

First section involves arm and leg movements and squats. It’s probably perfect for women in 3rd trimester, but at the end of 2nd I find it a bit slow and boring (and, mind you, I’m not a fit person). Second workout is mostly for arms and here, on the other hand, I felt that some movements were unnecessarily strenous for the upper back. (Although I did use 3 lb weights instead of water bottles.)

Third workout (abdominals) was of most interest to me, since late in pregnancy we can’t do any exercise laying down on the back. The workout starts sitting on the floor with legs crossed in front - for some reason this pose just makes my back hurt instantly, even though I usually don’t have any problems with it. About 5 min. out of 10 are Kegels and breathing in and out. Other 2 min. are needed just to re-position yourself between the movements.

Also what’s up with the Nancy’s two companions? Their smiles look so artificial, it’s painful to watch - poor ladies. And I just couldn’t take my eyes of the black nail polish on one of the ladies.

Overall it’s better than doing nothing, but I’m sure there’s something beter there. Early in pregnancy I wouldn’t even bother with this DVD.

5 Stars All Time Favorite
This was my all time favorite pregnancy workout DVD. You can select from 3 ten minute workouts or do all three, it all depends upon what type of energy level you are feeling that day. And I started this mid-to late pregnancy and it is totally safe and make me feel really good after a long day at work. Highly recommend this one!!!!

4 Stars Not bad at all
I have been taking prenatal yoga classes and this dvd is a exactly what it’s titled - it’s a quick fix of prenatal yoga classes. I wish that it came with the necessary yoga equipment but this plus a mat and ball would make an excellent pregnancy gift for expectant mothers!
